It’s interesting to speculate what the price of oil would be now without that dollar advance. Since oil trades in dollars, the price of a barrel of oil falls when the value of a dollar rises against other currencies.”

Section 3 says “The Task Force shall conduct a thorough evaluation of the operations and finances of the USPS, including:  (i)    the expansion and pricing of the package delivery market and the USPS’s role in competitive markets.” Think that could mean Amazon’s (AMZN) contract for package delivery?”

The stock closed yesterday at $218.87 and was up 3.05% at $225.55 at the close today. BMO Capital Markets raised its target price to $260 a share from $205. Stifel took its target to $250 from $230.”

A representative sample is this entry from today: “10: 20 a.m.: Recode is out with the compilation of reviews on Samsung’s new flagship phones, the Galaxy S9 and S9+ due in stores on Friday, March 16. Consensus: It’s not an “If you’ve seen last year’s Galaxy S8, you’ve seen the $719.99 S9. The Bixby voice assistant is still a dud.” Samsung added a number of gimmicky features, Recode concludes, such as face-scanning, aperture-switching, Super Slow Motion and AR Emoji to show on TV commercials. The company did make a number of unseen changed to improve the user experience. My take is that this illustrates the big current problem with top end smart phones: Where’s the whiz-bang to get people to ditch their old phone and spend $700 to $1,000 on a new model?”

Bloomberg is reporting that the deal could be agreed as early as this week. Soybean giant Bunge is a member of my long-term 50 Stocks Portfolio. The shares are up 4.33% today.”

Private non-financial sector debt hit all-time highs in Canada, France, Hong Kong, South Korea, Switzerland and Turkey. Thanks to global economic growth, though, the ratio of debt-to-gross domestic product fell for the fourth consecutive quarter. The ratio is now around 318%, 3 percentage points below a high set in the third quarter of 2016.”
