Please watch my new YouTube video: “Trend of the Week Are Food Delivery Stocks the Next Netflix?”

My one-hundredth-and-twenty-sixth YouTube video “Trend of the Week Are Food Delivery Stocks the Next Netflix” went up today. Will continued inflation and demand destruction from the Fed’s rate hikes added to changes in consumer behavior now that the Pandemic is on hiatus for warm weather, lead to lower discretionary spending in sectors such as food delivery. Using these apps can be expensive! Customers might cut back. Specifically, I’m looking at Just Eat Takeaway (TKAYF), which owns GrubHub; Uber (UBER), which is relying on UberEats for a big chunk of its growth; and DoorDash (DASH). You might want to avoid these stocks until we can figure out what the revenue trends are going to be over the next year.

Notes You Need for April 13: Google and right to be forgotten, Amazon, BA, rig count, Uber, USPS, NFLX, gold ETFs

In my daily trawling through the market I come upon lots of tidbits of knowledge that I think are important to investors but that don’t justify a full post. I’ve decided to start compiling these notes here each day in a kind of running mini blog that I’m calling Notes You Need. This item from today is a representative example of an entry: “This morning the Trump administration issued an executive order setting up a task force to examine the operations and finances of the U.S. Postal Service. Section 3 says “The Task Force shall conduct a thorough evaluation of the operations and finances of the USPS, including:  (i)    the expansion and pricing of the package delivery market and the USPS’s role in competitive markets.” Think that could mean Amazon’s (AMZN) contract for package delivery?”

Notes You Need for January 4: Uber, Didi Chuxing, initial claims, INTC, AMD, Amazon, RAD, Google,

In my daily trawling through the market I come upon lots of tidbits of knowledge that I think are important to investors but that don’t justify a full post. I’ve decided to start compiling these notes here each day in a kind of running mini blog that I’m calling Notes You Need. A typical post resembles this from today: “2:40 p.m.: Technology analysts are expecting Alphabet (GOOG) to make a big splash at next week’s Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas. The likelihood is that Alphabet will promote Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL phones, the Google Home Mini smart speaker, and the new Daydream View VR headset. New Chromebooks to follow up on the PixelBook are also a strong possibility.”

Notes You Need for December 29: GS, Uber, Japan stocks, rig count

In my daily trawling through the market I come upon lots of tidbits of knowledge that I think are important to investors but that don’t justify a full post. I’ve decided to start compiling these notes here each day in a kind of running mini blog that I’m calling Notes You Need. Typical items resemble this post from today: “10:40 a.m.: Softbank Group along with Tencent Holdings, Sequoia Capital and Dragoneer Investment Group are buying existing shares in Uber from current shareholders. In addition Softbank will buy $1.25 billion in new preferred stock. The big advantage to the deal from Uber’s point of view is that the investment pretty much rules out any investment in rival Lyft from Softbank. Locking Lyft out of funding from Softbank came at a price, though, as the sale of existing shares values Uber at $48 billion, a haircut from the valuation of $69 billion in Uber’s last round of financing.”
