The yen climbed and the Tokyo-traded S&P 500 futures fell 3% as of 10 p.m. New York time after President Donald Trump's speech on the coronavirus outbreak. Japanese stocks themselves lost 4%. Futures on the technology-heavy Nasdaq index dropped as much as 5%, triggering a trading halt.
